Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the LORD your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the sacred articles belonging to God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 22:19
Dear Lord, help me devote my heart and soul to seeking you. Let me take a look around and see your glory and your love. Help me to be careful what I expose my body and mind to. Help me to be a living sanctuary that seeks to be filled with your Spirit. Help me to understand the significance of a deep abiding relationship with you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:8
Dear Lord, help me to have a pure heart. Let me confess anything that stands in the way of being close with you. Give me a place to start. Help me to how amazing it is that I can come into your presence! Thank you for loving me and embracing me with open arms. Thank You Lord for loving me and for holding me in your arms. Amen.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
Dear Heavenly Father, let me earnestly seek how I can be part of the vision of Crossroads Community Church in 2020. I want to fully engage in seeking you, praying, fasting, giving, serving, and reading the Bible. I know that if I seek you, I will find you! Lord, speak to me today! Amen.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to seek you first. I pray that I learn to make seeking you as important as breathing. Today, I thank you that I have breath and air in my lungs. Lead me today into righteousness. Lead my thoughts, my words and my actions! Amen
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11
Father, help me to trust your promises and know that your plans for me are good. I thank you for your promise that if I pray to you, that you listen. That if I seek you with all of my heart, that I will find you. Please show me anywhere that I don’t listen, trust and obey. Help me to do what you’ve asked. In Jesus Name, Amen
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
God, we live in a day where we are told to be self-sufficient, to put our needs and wants first, to win at all costs and to pull myself up out of the hole! But I often forget that I can bring my requests to you. Help me to pray and not be anxious. Fill me with your peace. I want to experience a peace that transcends all understanding today. Amen
…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Father, thank You for caring enough to hear my prayers. Help me to come to you as a humble child basking in the love of my Father. Help me know what stands in the way of a deeper relationship with you. Show me the areas in my life where I need to let you in. Show me what I try to hide or cover up. Help me give it to you, to ask for forgiveness and accept your grace.
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3
Father, thank you for sharing your knowledge, your love and wondrous things with me. Thank you for your incredible strength and power! Thank you that you call me an heir. Thank you that you show your wonders to me daily. Please open my eyes to see and my heart to give you thanks. You are amazing, glorious and beautiful beyond description.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:13-15
God, thank you Lord and Father that you have given me your written Word that guides me, gives me free and total access to you, your commandments, your heart and your will. Help me to seek your will and not mine. Your ways are not my ways. Your ways are higher than my ways. You already know what all the possibilities are and what is needed. Help me to know you are truly all powerful and all knowing.
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Father, I read these words and ask this prayer for myself and for Crossroads Community Church. I pray that we are strengthened in our inner beings, that our faith increases, that your power would do more than we could ever imagine, that we are established in love and filled to the brim with the fullness of God.
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:1
Remind me Father to pray for my church, my co-workers, my neighbors, our government officials and even those who have hurt me. Help me to give thanks for them and to give thanks for you. Thank you, Lord for the gift of prayer.
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:16-18
Dear Lord, throughout the Bible, fasting is included in seasons of prayer. Fasting is a way for me to refocus and concentrate on you, sacrificing something that takes up my time and mind. You allow many choices in fasting: food, types of food, desserts, television, social media, sports, books, etc. Help me to pick something to fast from and use that time to just worship and listen to you. When my heart, body or mind calls out for the thing I am fasting, help me to pray!
Before making an important decision: “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off….Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.” Acts 13:2-3; 14:23
Father, as I go through this Thirty for 30 journey, help to me learn or relearn to fast as a part of my life. As I make decisions, when I am stuck in a spiritual drought, when I feel overwhelmed or burdened, help me to fast and pray. You are my Savior and my loving Father. I need more of you! Give me endurance as I fast and pray. In Jesus Name. Amen
As a sign of mourning: “They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.” 2 Samuel 1:12
Dear Father, we need to mourn not only when someone leaves this world but also when we are caught in a spiral of sin, betrayal, hurt, resentment or self– centeredness. Fasting is a way we can wade through the muck and the mire in our spirit and gain ground in righteousness. Father, help me walk through this day today with your plans in mind. In Your Holy Name we pray, seek and fast.
As an act of repentance: “When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the LORD. On that day they fasted and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the LORD.” And Samuel was leader of Israel at Mizpah.” 1 Samuel 7:6
Dear Lord, use this time of fasting and prayer to remind me of any sin in my life. I confess my sin to you today. Please give strength to my prayer so that I can walk away from those things that displease you and stand in the way of our relationship. Thank You Lord, Amen
Praying for safety: “There, by the Ahava Canal, I [Ezra] proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.” Ezra 8:21
God, I ask for safety for my friends, families, church and country. God as the people of our church are praying today, would you do more than we could ever hope or imagine? Would you put your hand on them and protect them? Would you go before them and with them! In Jesus Name, Amen
“So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He answered our prayer.” Ezra 8:23
Father, I pray today for my church! I pray for the vision, missions and goals that Crossroads has set in 2020. I ask that you use me as part of your plan. I pray that my gifts, talents and treasure may be used for your purposes. Amen
“Yet even now.’ Declares the Lord, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning” Joel 2:12
God, thank you for these first 19 days! I want to go deeper with you! I ask that you reveal anything that is preventing that. Reveal anything that is keeping me from hearing your will, obeying your plan and keeping me distant from you. In your name, Amen
“you will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11
Father, thank you for every opportunity that you give me to be generous to my church and others. Help me to be openhanded this year and see places where I can be generous with what you’ve given to me. In Jesus Name, Amen
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:1-4
Father, fill my heart with a desire to give and be generous for your glory and not my own. Help me to give because you have given to me. Fill my heart with gratefulness for all you have given me. Help my personal desire for comfort, recreation or more to not outshine my desire to be obedient to you. Help me to remember that what is done in secret is rewarded by you. Amen
“Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am supplied, …They are fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:17-19
God, help me to see that you are the giver of every good gift and absolutely everything we have. Help me to support my church as we are for families, for our neighbors, for the military, for the broken and for Nicaragua. Let me be mindful that you are the Creator of all and that you have amazing plans this year. Out of thankfulness, love and trust, I give. In Jesus Name Amen
“The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me by still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leads me on the path of righteousness for His Namesake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou rod and staff comfort for me. Thou prepares a table in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head, my cup runneth over, surely goodness, mercy will follow me the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
On this day, as I read this psalm, I realize you are the giver who meets my needs, protects me, restores me, heals me, and gathers me in your shepherding arms. Thank you for providing for me and blessing me. You are a Good Shepherd. Amen
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to the Lord.” Hebrews 13:16
Dear Lord, on this day show me a way to bless someone in the military, unexpectedly. I lift up to you all those serving in our military and the families in our church experiencing deployments. In Name of Jesus Christ, the ultimate giver, I pray. Amen
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18
Dear Lord, thank you for your love that you freely gave me. Thank you for laying down your life for me. Let that sacrifice be at the center of all that I do today. Help me to see the needs of others and to love not just with words but with action and truth. Amen
“The Lord is the refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name, trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:9-10
Dear Lord, I have been seeking you, deepening my prayers, and practicing fasting. I am being encouraged by Your Word. You have showed up in new ways in my life. Thank you! I want to be an encouragement to others because of what you’ve done for me! Show me ways to do that today. In Jesus Amen.
“The spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives and release from the darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.” Isaiah 61:1-2
Dear Lord, I thank you and praise you for how you have set me free and broken chains in my life. Give me boldness and strength to share your love and freedom with other captives and those with broken hearts. Show me where to start and fill my mouth with your words. Help me to be available today. Amen
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I AM gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Dear Lord, you have carried me so many times. Sometimes I am aware and sometimes I am not. Thank you that you are always aware of my needs and what is best for me. I want to find rest in you today and trust your ways . Thank you for being there for me when I am tired and overwhelmed. In the Name of Jesus, our Comforter, Amen
“but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like an eagle; they shall run and not grow weary.; they shall walk and not grow faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Father, you are worth waiting for and there is nothing more important than being in your presence. Help me to wait on you and to seek your will in all things. There are days and moments when I grow tired and want to quit. Renew my strength. In the Name of Jesus, Mighty Counselor. Amen
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither be afraid.” John 14:27
Dear Lord, as I end this Thirty for 30 challenge, I pray that each of us has experienced the joy of seeking and finding you. Help me to continue this on my own. I pray that I would continue to seek you through reading the Bible, praying, fasting and giving. Thank you that when we seek you, we find you! In the Name of Jesus, Amen
